Performances

Students enrolled in the Performing Arts Program get many opportunities to perform. In the past, our students have performed in the Lakeville City Ballet’s Nutcracker, our own Rhythm Festival, our original production of Isabella Saves the World, Dances at the Lakes, Edinborough, Nickelodeon Universe, National Tap Dance Day, Dance for Courage, a fundraiser for the Courage Center, and of course our annual concert.

Annual Concert

The concerts will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Minnehaha Academy North Campus, located at 3100 West River Parkway in Minneapolis. Shows are at 2 pm and 5:30 pm. Boys, adults, and dancers in levels II-IV perform in both shows. Dress rehearsal will be Friday, June 14, at Minnehaha Academy North Campus, schedule TBA.

Costume fees are based on measurements taken in October: $70 for a small and medium child size; $80 for a large child size; $90 for child extra large and adult sizes small-large; $100 for adult extra large size. Costume prices include tights and some accessories. The costume fee is due with November tuition on November 1st . Dancers will purchase one costume for their ballet/tap class, and one for their jazz class. Costumes will be handed out during family visitation week in March.

Tickets for the show are $13 and are reserved. Tickets go on sale during observation week in March/April. The concert is fun and a great learning experience!

The Annual Concert Information Packet is a comprehensive guide for the performance.

Rhythm Festival

The Rhythm Festival is for our tap, jazz and hip hop classes. It will include jazz, tap, and hip hop dance, professional dancers, and possibly live music, and spoken word. This performance tells the story of the journey jazz music and American rhythmic dance has taken from its birth in New Orleans, up the river and throughout the United States. Dancers in levels II and up have the opportunity to participate in this special show. Look forward to our next Rhythm Festival in March of 2014!

Isabella Saves the World

This is original ballet about the world being stuck in perpetual winter and the girl who helps spring return. Isabella travels from her home, to the place where the snowflakes are made. She gets past soldiers, battles the snow sorcereress, enlists help from the Evergreen Elder, the Sun Queen and the Rain Queen, and some other characters along the way. Will she succeed?

Ballet dancers in level Fundamental B through level V and all levels of  Boys classes have the opportunity to participate in this special show, which will take place in Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2 pm and 5:30 pm at the Minnehaha Academy North Campus. Tickets are $13 and are reserved. Tickets will go on sale at the studio in January.
