Ballare Teatro

Welcome to Ballare Teatro

Classes

We offer classes for dancers of all ages and all skill levels!

Summer Program

Summer is time for dancers to try something new. There are no prerequisites. Our short five week summer session includes week long camps and workshops, as well as weekly evening classes. There is something to fit into your busy summer schedule at Ballare Teatro Performing Arts Center.

Youth Programs

The Performing Arts Program is a year-long program for students who are ready for more of a commitment to dance education. All students involved in this program must be registered in a ballet/tap class during the course of the year. Because students involved in this program commit to an entire year, new students are taken in these classes from September-October. After that, students will be allowed to register by permission of Ballare Teatro Director and staff.

Registration is currently closed.

Toddler & Preschool Classes

Our Preschool Program is a year-long program. We have three classes: Music and Movement, Creative Dance and Pre-Ballet. Music and Movement is for our littlest dancers and their parents. Once a child turns 3 they can register for our Creative Dance class. If your dancer is 4 by September 1 they may register for Pre-Ballet. We continue to take registration in all of these classes all year long, as long as there are openings.

Registration is currently closed.

Adult Classes

Our adult program offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop for the beginner-professional dancer. You may register at any time of the year for our classes. You may drop in, or purchase a class card. Please call ahead prior to dropping into a class to check on the schedule and openings.

Alternative Programs

Ballare Teatro offers Homeschool Classes by appointment. We would be happy to design a program specifically for your homeschool groups schedule, interests and budget.

The Studio

The Ballare Teatro Difference

Ballare Teatro serves students from all over the Twin Cities area and has become known for successfully melding professional, effective dance instruction with a fun, warm atmosphere that both professional and novice dancers enjoy. With 12 highly trained, professional dance instructors, Ballare Teatro offers small class sizes for maximum learning and enjoyment.

Founded in 1998, and meaning “Dance Theater” in Italian, Ballare Teatro is owned and operated by Ann Williams. Ann has a BA in Dance and Mass Communications from the University of Minnesota. She has been dancing and performing for over 20 years and has taught for over 15 years at several different studios in the Twin Cities area. She has studied and performed with many prestigious institutions, companies and individuals.Prior to opening Ballare Teatro, Ann was the Jazz Program Director at Dance Works Performing Arts Center in Lakeville, where she was artistic director of the annual Jazz Festival in honor of Black History Month.

Ballare Teatro Performing Arts Center sets itself apart from other dance programs that go into schools and centers in many ways.

Dance is our life long passion. We didn’t purchase a francise or go through a one week training course to ‘qualify’ us to teach your child dance. All of our instructors have degrees in Dance, professional dance experience, and have been teaching for at least 5 years.

We have a good understanding about where your toddler/preschooler is at developmentally and structure our classes to build their skills and self esteem.

We are the only program in the Twin Cities going into schools and centers that has a school where your child can continue dancing after they have left their preschool or center. Ballare Teatro Performing Arts Center has been in South Minneapolis since 1998. In addition to our Preschool Program, which is also offered at our school, we provide classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern and Hip Hop for all ages and levels. If you child comes to Ballare Teatro, they may brush shoulders with professional dancers! If our school isn’t convenient for you, we are a resource for you. Our instructors teach at studios across the Twin Cities, and we are well connected with reputable schools right in your neighborhood.
