Performing Arts Program, 2007-08: Children and Youth Class Schedule

These classes are for someone who is looking for a high calibre, well-rounded dance education. The Performing Arts Program runs from September through mid-June. All students must register for a ballet/tap class. Once registered for ballet/tap, they may add any elective of hip hop, modern, and/or jazz at the same time. Students involved in the Performing Arts Program will be eligible to perform in our annual recital in the spring, and will be given other performing opportunities.

Explanation of Performing Arts Program Class Levels
Fundamental: Dance for children ages 5-6 or for those who have successfully completed Creative Dance. Introduction to basic dance terms, steps and techniques.
Level I: Training for children ages 7-9 or for those who have successfully completed the fundamental level. Students will begin building strength, developing proper alignment, and a better understanding of basic dance elements.
Level II: Teaching for children ages 10-12 or for those who have mastered the requirements of Level I. Students should have a solid understanding of dance terms, techniques and steps. Strength and alignment continues to be stressed. Students will be expected to grasp more difficult concepts.
Level III: Training for those who have mastered all the requirements of Level II. Strength, alignment and technique continue to be stressed and built upon. Students are expected to be able to learn by watching, with less explanation than previously required. This class will move more quickly and is designed to develop and challenge the dancer.
Level IV: Training for those who have mastered the requirements of Level III. Class content is more technical, complex and challenging, with a professional atmosphere. Students are dedicated to becoming well-trained dancers.
